 Hill Walking in Ceredigion

Brynheulog offers an excellent base for a walking holiday.  A peek at walking maps will show you that Ceredigion is well-served by footpaths, bridle paths, forestry tracks and quiet country lanes.  It is beautiful at all times of the year and in all weathers.  If you get wet whilst walking, we'll dry your clothes and boots ready for the next day.

We have a folder of walking routes offering hillwalks & coastal walks covering a radius of 20miles, from short strolls to longer walks, all in the Llanddewi Brefi and Tregaron area, along with maps for Ceredigion and the surrounding area.

The scenery is stunning and reaches as far as the eye can see and beyond.  The  photos at bottom of the page link to walks information, and the Tregaron link will take you to the BBC Wales  "Weatherman Walking" feature on Tregaron & Llanddewi Brefi which includes video clips from the program which was screened in February 2010.

The following maps are here for you to use.

OS Explorer 187 - Llandovery (Llanwrtyd Wells & Llyn Brianne)

OS Explorer 198 - Cardigan, (New Quay & Aberaeron)

OS Explorer 199 - Lampeter (Tregaron & Llannon)

OS Explorer 213 - Aberystwyth & Cwm Rheidol (Devil's Bridge & Pontarfynach)

PDF Leaflets on walks in Ceredigion can be accessed here.

Please be aware that these leaflets should always be used with an ordnance survey map.  You should also check locally before starting a walk as the guides are only accurate at the time of publishing.

The map below shows the close proximity of footpaths to Brynheulog.

O/S Map Explorer 199 will provide the whole picture for you.

If you want to walk on the wild side  you might consider starting and/or ending at Brynheulog and using the Elenydd Wilderness Hostels to really get away from it all.  There are two hostels; Dolgoch is 14 miles away; Ty'n Cornel is 8 miles.  Guests from Canada did this in September 2009 leaving Brynheulog after a hearty breakfast, returning 2 days later to relax and enjoy an evening meal.

Tregaron Walking Club welcome anyone who would like to join them on their walks.  See their website for their walks program and contact details.

So, what sort of scenery might you see on your walks?
